To know nothing in opposition to the rule of faith, is to know all things. Faith has been deposited in the rule it has a law. For wherever it shall be manifest that the true Christian rule and faith shall be, there will likewise be the true Scriptures and expositions thereof, and all the Christian traditions. Christ first delivered the faith. The apostles spread it. That faith, therefore, is apostolic, which descended from the apostles. The Scriptures belong only to those who have the rule of faith, for truth is just as much opposed by an adulteration of its meaning as it is by a corruption of its text. One man perverts the Scriptures with his hand, another their meaning by his exposition. Thus, truth first, falsehood afterwards, as its perversion. Where GOD is not, there truth also is not. Where GOD is, there exists "the fear of GOD, with is the beginning of wisdom."
