LORD GOD. It is YOU WHO have made the heavens and earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for YOU. YOU show steadfast love to thousands, but YOU repay the guilt of fathers to their children after them, Great and mighty GOD, whose name is the LORD of hosts, great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the children of man, rewarding each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds. YOU have shown signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and to this day in Israel and among all mankind, and have made a name for Yourself, as at this day. YOU brought Your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and outstretched arm, and with great terror. And YOU gave them this land, which YOU swore to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey. And they entered and took possession of it. But they did not obey Your voice or walk in Your law. They did nothing of all YOU commanded them to do. Therefore YOU have made all this disaster come upon them. The siege mounds have come up to the city to take it, and because of sword and famine and pestilence he city is given into the hands of the Chaldeans who are fighting against it. What YOU spoke has come to pass, and behold, YOU see it.
Hear me, LORD, and listen to the voice of my adversaries. Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for my life. Remember how I stood before YOU to speak good for them, to turn away Your wrath from them. Therefore deliver up their children to famine give them over to the power of the sword let their wives become childless and widowed. May their men meet death by pestilence, their youths be struck down by the sword in battle. May a cry be heard from their houses, when YOU bring the plunderer suddenly upon them. For they have dug a pit to take me and laid snares for my feet. Yet YOU, LORD, know all their plotting to kill me. Forgive not their iniquity, nor blot out their sin from Your sight. Let them be overthrown before YOU deal with them in the time of Your anger.
LORD, Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all who are treacherous thrive? YOU plant them, and they take root they grow and produce fruit YOU are near in their mouth and far from their heart. But YOU, LORD, know me YOU see me, and test my heart toward you. Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and set them apart for the day of slaughter. How long will the land mourn and the grass of every field wither? For the evil of those who dwell in it the beasts and the birds are swept away, because they said, He will not see out latter end.
I know, LORD, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps. Correct me, LORD, but in justice not in Your anger, lest YOU bring me to nothing. Pour out Your wrath on the nations that know YOU not, and on the peoples that call not on Your name, for they have devoured Jacob they have devoured him and consumed him, and have laid waste his habitation.
